Mr. Ignatius Opolot is taking the Bukedea political scene by storm ever since he declared his ambition to stand for Bukedea County Parliamentary seat. The position is currently being occupied by Hon. Ikojo John Bosco.
Born to Egos Opolot Richard and Helen Tink Opolot of Kacabule village, Bukedea Town Council in Bukedea district, Opolot has ironically given Mr Ikojo a bumpy ride in a constituency which he took over in 2016.
Opolot has been the talk of the town as a new politician in Bukedea giving an ‘energetic’ Ikojo a run for his money.
“Time is up for selfish politicians; we now need selfless politicians ready to transform Bukedea. Now that Bukedea is close to a city, Mbale, we need selfless politicians that can tap and create jobs for the young people,” he said.
He however applauded the Bukedea Woman MP Hon. Among Annet Anita for the selfless work she has done for the people of Bukedea saying that he is ready to work with her to bring more development to Bukedea.
Opolot, 40, explains that growing up as a kid, he always wanted to be a politician and when he joined UCU in 2005, he was elected Minister of Internal Affairs and in 2006, he took over the acting position of the guild president.
In 1998, he joined Mbale SS for his O’ Level and later St. Johns Education Center Mukono where he finished his Advanced Level before enrolling for a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Works and Social Administration at Uganda Christian University where he graduated with a first class degree in October 2007.
By nature, Opolot is a hands-on man much as he is always smart home and away.
Despite being a social worker, Opolot currently Works with Whave Solutions an NGO dealing in borehole rehabilitation and sanitation.
