Engineer Patrick Oboi Amuriat aka POA, was born in Soroti, Eastern Uganda.
He holds a Diploma of Education, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and a Masters of Science in Engineering all from Makerere University.
POA is a founding member of FDC. He joined active competitive politics in 1994, first contesting during the Constituency Assembly (CA) elections. POA served as an MP for Kumi county from 2001-2016 (15 years).
In 2015, POA was deployed as Chief National Field Coordinator to the then FDC Presidential flag bearer, Dr. Kizza Besigye. Currently, POA is the FDC Party President, having won elections on November 24th, 2017. He is the third party President after Maj. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu (November 2012 - November 2017) and Dr. Kizza Besigye (2005 – November 2018)
Patrick Oboi Amuriat was endorsed FDC Presidential flagbearer after his closest competitor Amb. Wasswa Birigwa bowed out of the race.
