The government of Uganda has finally restored social media.
The Minister of State for Information, Communication Technology and National Guidance, Peter Ogwang confirmed this information in a tweet.
“Internet and Social media services have been fully restored. We apologize for the inconveniences caused, but it was for the security of our country. Let’s be constructive, NOT destructive consumers/ users of social media.” Minister Ogwang tweeted
Prior to the January 14th polls, Government switched off internet to allow Ugandans vote peacefully following intelligence that some elements were planning to use internet and social media to incite the public into a post-election insurrection.
Hon. Peter Ogwang also urged Ugandans to be responsible while using social media.
