Kaberamaido registers poor recovery of Emyooga funds

Kaberamaido District commercial officer David Eyamu says he has discovered poor loan recovery of Emyooga in the district.

 

The Emyooga program introduced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is meant to benefit organized SACCOs including salon operators, Boda-boda riders, carpenters, produce dealers, journalists, among others.

Eyamu has called on the SACCO leaders and beneficiaries to expedite the process of paying back the loans before the Government bursts additional shillings of 20 million.

 

Kaberamaido District received Shs 1 billion to cater for the two constituencies of Ochero and Kabermaido respectively.

 

Clair Ayipo the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Kaberamaido says the government is committed to adding 20 million shillings to best Saccos to allow all members of associations to benefit from the fund.

 

The chairperson of the Kaberamaido Boda Boda SACCO Simon Olinga said their association has a recovery rate of 70% and pledged to sensitize members to be able to recover the funds.

 

The government allocated Shs 260 billion to fund Emyooga SACCOs across the country with each constituency receiving Shs 560 million as seed capital.
