KAMPALA - Teso’s fast-rising singer Reekeydreamz, an artiste under State Land Musiq, has defended the reported Shs20 million budget for his upcoming music video following public questions over the amount.
Reekeydreamz says the production is part of his efforts to raise the standard of his music and deliver quality entertainment to his growing fan base across Uganda.
The singer revealed that the audio for the project was produced by Artin, while Zyga Phix is handling the videography. Kats Official is responsible for the design, while Shs2.5 million was reportedly spent on fashion and wardrobe for the project.
The cost of the video has, however, generated debate among members of the public, with some questioning whether the reported figures are genuine.
Responding to the concerns, Reekeydreamz said those who doubt the figures should engage his team, which he says can provide a breakdown of the expenses.
“People who may think the money wasn’t true should meet my team and they will give them the breakdowns,” he said.
Despite the criticism, the singer says he remains focused on his music career and is encouraging his fans to expect more releases.
“I am telling my people to just be prepared for nonstop entertainment and strictly good music,” Reekeydreamz said.
The artiste also attributed his growing popularity to the support and trust he has received from listeners across the country.
He said his decision to pursue a specific style of music has helped him build a growing fan base, while consistently delivering on his promise to produce quality work has strengthened his relationship with his audience.
Reekeydreamz acknowledged that criticism and negative comments have been among the challenges he has encountered in his career. However, he said he has chosen to remain focused rather than allow criticism to affect his progress.
Under State Land Musiq, the singer has released several songs, including Miss Uganda, Tunonye, Blackman Label, Awigo, Bigulako, Alabika Bulungi and Doreena, among others.
Beyond his personal career, Reekeydreamz also weighed in on the future of the Teso music industry, particularly amid increasing disagreements and competition among artistes.
He called on Teso artistes to support one another, work together and speak with one voice if the region's music industry is to grow.
The singer further encouraged artistes to embrace a common umbrella association that can champion the interests and development of Teso musicians.
As anticipation builds around his new project, Reekeydreamz says his focus remains on producing music and entertainment that can expand his audience beyond Teso and strengthen his position in Uganda’s competitive music industry.
