SERERE - Police in Serere District are investigating a gruesome murder after the body of an unidentified man, believed to be around 30 years old, was found hacked to death in Abulu Village, Olupe Parish, Kyere Sub County.
The shocking discovery was reported on August 17, 2024, by Otango Joseph, the 52-year-old LC1 Chairperson of Abulu Village. Authorities quickly responded and registered the case under reference number CRB 413/2024 at CPS Serere.
According to police reports, the victim was found with severe head injuries, his body dumped in a garden. Nearby, a red motorcycle with registration number UGD 863 M was discovered, burned beyond recognition.
The incident is believed to have occurred during the early morning rains in an isolated area, far from any nearby homes.
The victim, who was wearing yellow trousers and a dull brown sweater with black stripes, had no form of identification on him. His body has been taken to Serere Health Center IV for a postmortem, while the motorcycle has been secured by CPS Serere for further investigation.
Accprding to ASP Obukulem Edison, the PRO East Kyoga, no arrests have been made.
"The police are actively pursuing leads and promise to keep the public informed of any new developments in this tragic case", he added.
