SOROTI – Prominent lawyer Joshua Okello has officially declared his support for Hon. Dr. Flight Captain Mike Mukula in the upcoming race for the position of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region.
Speaking passionately about the qualities needed in leadership, Okello urged voters to prioritize experience, unity, and visionary leadership in the forthcoming elections.
“I have thrown my support behind Hon. Dr. Flight Captain Mike Mukula for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson, Eastern Region,” Okello announced. “It is important to elect leaders who can bridge political divides and foster unity across the region.”
Okello emphasized that as Uganda heads into a series of electoral activities, every vote will be crucial in shaping the region's future. He called on voters to choose a leader who embodies inclusiveness and integrity, noting that Mukula’s political journey has proven him capable of navigating complex governance issues.
“Article 29 of the Constitution of Uganda guarantees our rights to freedom of expression, assembly, and association,” he noted. “So, in that spirit, I urge all voters to speak through their ballots and choose leaders who stand for all, not just for some.”
In his endorsement, Okello drew on a metaphor, likening Mukula to an experienced driver entrusted with steering the people to their desired destination.
“You cannot entrust someone who has never driven a long-distance journey to take people to the promised land. Hon. Dr. Mike Mukula has been on this road before. He knows the turns, the hills, and the valleys. He has what it takes to lead us there,” Okello remarked.
The lawyer praised Mukula’s record in governance, diplomacy, and community service, saying his leadership style is exactly what is needed to address the pressing issues in Eastern Uganda.
“What we need now are leaders who are not afraid to cross divides, who will bring people together to solve challenges affecting our communities. Mukula fits that profile,” he concluded.
As the elections draw near, Okello’s endorsement adds to the growing chorus of voices rallying behind Mukula’s candidacy, reflecting the weight of experience and unity in this pivotal moment for the region’s political future.
