The eight-year-old Primary Three pupil from Soroti City has captured the hearts of Ugandans after publicly inviting National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, to attend her swearing-in ceremony as compound prefect next school term.
Asero Melsa, who recently won the position at her school, made the request during an inclusive interview with our reporter. Her confident appeal and admiration for Bobi Wine’s leadership have gone viral on social media, earning widespread praise for her courage and charm.
The young leader’s connection to Bobi Wine began over the Easter weekend, when she traveled from Soroti City to join celebrations with the NUP president and party foot soldiers. During the event, Melsa personally met Bobi Wine and later thanked him for being “a good president,” adding that she admired his leadership style.
“I want Bobi Wine to come to my party because he is a leader, and I want security like him,” she said with poise beyond her years.
As of now, Bobi Wine has not issued a public response to the invitation. However, many Ugandans are hopeful that he will honor the gesture and support the next generation of leaders.
