Soroti City - Teddy Acam, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilizer for the Teso sub-region, has broken her silence following a wave of criticism surrounding her performance in the recent NRM party structure elections.
Her response comes after a pointed social media post by Capt. Mike Mukula, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, who appeared to celebrate her loss in the internal contests through his X (formerly Twitter) account. The post stirred widespread debate among party supporters and drew backlash from factions within the ruling party.
In a defiant public statement, Acam acknowledged her loss in certain levels of the election process but affirmed her unwavering loyalty and commitment to the NRM.
“Yes, I have failed in some areas, but I am still the mobilizer,” Acam declared. “In fact, I will continue to mobilize even those who have failed and those who have succeeded.”
She went on to allege that elements within the party had actively worked against her by rallying support behind a local businesswoman in an effort to unseat her. Despite this, Acam struck a conciliatory tone, expressing no ill will and congratulating her opponent.
“They brought a local businesswoman just to fail me,” she said. “But I am happy she went through. I will continue to mobilize for the party—even for those who have defeated me.”
Her comments reflect ongoing political friction within the NRM’s regional structures, where competition for influence and leadership is intensifying in the lead-up to key national political activities.
Observers say Acam’s resilience and public show of loyalty signal a strategic bid to maintain her relevance and support base in the sub-region—at a time when party unity is more crucial than ever.
