Amuria District — In a spirited gathering in Wera, Amuria District, youth leaders from the Teso sub-region have expressed strong support for Tanga Collins’ bid to become the National Youth Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). The endorsement was further energized by Eastern Youth MP aspirant Omaria Emmanuel, who publicly threw his weight behind Collins’ campaign.

The meeting, which brought together chairpersons from various youth caucuses across Teso alongside NRM delegates from Amuria, emphasized the critical need for youthful leadership that can attract investment and drive empowerment initiatives in the region.

“Teso’s youth deserve a leader with the right capacity and connections to open doors for development,” Omaria Emmanuel said during the event. “Tanga Collins has the vision and network to lead this charge and transform opportunities into real impact for our young people.”

Tanga Collins, son of Dr. Tanga Odoi—the Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission—is seeking to steer the party’s youth wing towards greater inclusivity and economic progress. At the event, Collins outlined his plans to build a youth movement that champions empowerment and investment at both the regional and national levels.

The gathering was also attended by Hon. Musa Ecweru, the NRM Chairperson for Amuria District, who reiterated the importance of unified leadership within the party as it prepares for the 2026 elections.

Political analysts view the alliance between Omaria and Collins as a strategic move aimed at consolidating youth votes in Eastern Uganda. Omaria’s endorsement not only bolsters Collins’ campaign but also aligns with his own aspirations to serve as Eastern Youth MP, where he hopes to champion the cause of youth empowerment and economic development.

In recent months, Omaria Emmanuel has built a solid base through consultations across key areas including Sebei, Kaberamaido’s Kuman community, and Greater Teso, signaling his commitment to grassroots engagement.

As the 2025 electoral cycle approaches, the political dynamics in Eastern Uganda are intensifying, with youth leadership at the forefront of the conversation. Both Omaria Emmanuel and Tanga Collins are positioning themselves as key players in shaping the future of the region.
