The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Primaries for the Serere District woman Member of Parliament candidate, Acom Esther Lucy, has formally presented compelling evidence of alleged election malpractice and forgery to the NRM tribunal.

Her petition directly contests the declaration of Adoa Hellen, the incumbent Serere District Woman MP and current state minister for Fisheries, as the NRM flag bearer.

During her appearance before the tribunal on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Acom asserted that Adoa participated in voting at multiple polling stations, raising concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process.

"This manipulation disregards the voice of the people, whose choices should be respected in a democratic process," Acom asserted.

Further more, Acom's presented declaration forms from the 2015 elections, alleging they were issued to incorrectly issued to their polling agents by the Serere district NRM registra. She asserted that mishap led to the arrest of the district NRM registrar, William Olir for forgery.

The grade one magistrates' court of Serere remanded Olir to Serere Main Prison pending a case hearing that is scheduled for 5th August 2025.

Following the NRM tribunal hearing, Acom expressed confidence in the robustness of her case, emphasizing that the evidence she presented underscores the alleged discrepancies in the election process.

"I am confident that the evidence we have provided will pave the way for justice for the people of Serere, whose rightful victory was unjustly overturned," she stated.

In response to assertions that she was collaborating with opposition forces, Acom firmly rejected such claims as groundless. Highlighting her historical support for Adoa during previous campaigns in 2011 and 2016, she reinforced her loyalty to the NRM.

"I campaigned vigorously for Adoa under the NRM banner. How could I now be working for the opposition? These allegations are merely attempts to tarnish my reputation within the NRM framework," Acom commented.

The unfolding situation has caught the attention of the Serere electorate, who are anxiously awaiting the tribunal's ruling to address these serious allegations of electoral misconduct.
