Kampala – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has disqualified Ms. Nakku Fiona from contesting for the position of National Female Youth Member of Parliament (MP) flag bearer.

In an official communication issued by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi (PhD), the decision followed a petition filed by several individuals, most prominently by Mr. Amanya Aaron through ABNO Advocates. The complaint raised questions regarding Ms. Nakku’s eligibility to contest for a youth leadership position.

The letter, dated August 18, 2025, revealed that the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) confirmed Ms. Nakku does not qualify to vie for the National Youth Council due to age limitations.

“Following the said advice, the NRM Electoral Commission is legally obligated to de-nominate you for the position of National Female Youth MP Flag bearer as you do not qualify to be nominated at the National level based on your age,” Dr. Odoi stated.

The Electoral Commission emphasized that Ms. Nakku would not appear on the ballot for the forthcoming elections, effectively ending her bid for the NRM ticket.

The notice was also copied to the NRM Secretary General, the Director of Legal Services – NRM, and ABNO Advocates, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to upholding internal electoral guidelines.

This development is expected to shift dynamics within the NRM youth elections, as other candidates continue to battle for the party’s flag in the highly competitive National Female Youth MP race.
