Award-winning singer and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo has broken his silence on why he chose to distance himself from fellow artist-turned-politician Bobi Wine and the National Unity Platform (NUP). Kenzo stated that his decision was not political but rather rooted in pragmatism and personal responsibility.

In a recent YouTube interview, Kenzo articulated that aligning with Bobi Wine would not contribute to his ability to provide for his family or propel his music career forward, emphasizing a focus on tangible outcomes for his dependents.

“If I were to support him, in which position would I be? Where would I be eating? I have children, a wife, and a family to take care of. If I join him, which office would I occupy? Why doesn’t he leave his seat for me and support me? That’s when you know it’s for him, not for me,” Kenzo questioned during the interview.

The "Sitya Loss" hitmaker, who now heads the national musicians' body, underscored his belief that political engagement in that context would not serve his immediate personal and professional obligations. His comments offer a rare glimpse into the complex decisions public figures face when navigating the intersection of public life, personal responsibility, and political affiliation in Uganda's often-charged environment.

Kenzo's stance highlights a deliberate prioritization of his role as a provider and an artist over direct political alignment.
