Katakwi registers 875 candidates and Confirms Smooth Start of UCE Examinations

Katakwi district has confirmed a smooth start to the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, with candidates across the district sitting Geography Paper 1 today 13th Oct 2025 under heightened security and comprehensive support arrangements.

In a statement, Joseph Opule Headteacher Katakwi High school and chief vigilator for Usuk county and Katakwi Town council reported that all examination materials were delivered to centres on time and that no major disruptions had been recorded so far.

According to Opule, all the schools or centres were able to have a holistic and good conduct with students and invigilators.

He however encourages the students to be self confident during the time of examination.

Opule added that they managed to train personnels on how to conduct, attend multi practices and ease students following UNEB guard lines.

Isaac Otukei Headteacher Onset Senior Secondary school, emphasized on discipline and perculality on the candidates while doing their examination.

"As one of the private schools in Katakwi district we've targeted to fetchoff higher marks in this forth ongoing exams" He said.

He said Onset has registered 87 candidates 47 boys and 40 girls which is welmed number in the school and district as well.
 
Mr James Opio who is Headteacher Kapujan Community SS as well as chief surversor Toroma county acknowledged smoothness and discipline from both students and invigilators during exams.
 
Mr. Anguria Peter incharge of Ngariam county and Headteacher Ngariam Seeds SS said although there's experience of floods, examination was delivered and conducted on time.

Meanwhile, Chairperson Headteachers Katakei district John Stephen Enngole told this publication that, a total of 875 candidates are registered for this year’s UCE exams compared to last year's 753 students and addition of 150 has been registered.

Katakwi district according to Engole has not registered any problem but only success on the first day of UCE exams.

According to him the board has also deployed specific ways to assist in the monitoring of candidates during the examinations.

However, Engole appealed to all stakeholders, schools, parents, invigilators, and security agencies to remain vigilant and uphold the sanctity of the examinations, ensuring that results reflect each learner’s true performance and effort.

“The examinations are being conducted under the theme, "Embracing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment,” Engole said.
Therefore, UNEB indicates that a total of 432,159 Senior Four candidates have today officially begun their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, reflecting a significant 12.1% increase from last year’s 379,748 candidates, according to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
