TESO - The Teso Professional MCs and Panelists have recently been awarded a significant financial boost of 100 million shillings as part of a presidential initiative aimed at empowering local professionals.

The fund, aimed at supporting MCs and panelists from the Teso sub-region, was confirmed by Musa Oroma, the focal point spokesperson for the President’s empowerment funds and also the chairperson of the Teso Professional MCs and Panelists Association.

The beneficiaries of the fund come from various districts within the Teso sub-region, including Soroti District, Soroti City, Serere, Bukedia, Katakwi, Kalaki, Kumi, Ngora, and Kaberaimodo. Oroma emphasized that the initiative marks the first time in Uganda's history that MCs and panelists from the Teso region are being formally recognized on such a significant scale.

Speaking on the matter, Oroma clarified that there had been some misunderstandings among local groups, with some people mistakenly believing that the funds would be available to any association. However, he stressed that the funds are specifically designated for those who are part of the Teso Professional MCs and Panelists Association, and they must meet certain criteria to qualify.

He also highlighted that the initiative offers a unique opportunity for the recipients, as it is a rare recognition of the important role MCs and panelists play in the region's social and cultural activities. The financial support will be disbursed with the understanding that it must be used responsibly for one year, with a return rate of 6% interest after the loan period.

Oroma expressed optimism that, with careful use of these funds, the beneficiaries will experience significant positive changes in their lives. He added that the financial empowerment will not only improve the professional standing of MCs and panelists in the Teso region but also inspire broader socio-economic growth within the community.

The initiative is expected to pave the way for further support and recognition of MCs and other professionals across Uganda. The hope is that, by harnessing this opportunity, Teso’s MCs and panelists will continue to grow in influence and effectiveness, fostering greater unity and progress for the region.
