Soroti City — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda and party flag bearer for Soroti City West, Hon. Echodu David Calvin, has been officially nominated to contest for the Member of Parliament seat for Soroti City West Division, pledging to bring “new energy, transparency, and transformation” to the city’s leadership.

Hon. Echodu was duly nominated at 11:00 a.m. by Mr. John Olinga Gonzaga, the Soroti City Returning Officer, during an event held at the Electoral Commission offices in Soroti City.

“I, John Olinga Gonzaga, the Soroti City Returning Officer, hereby declare Hon. Echodu David Calvin duly nominated to contest for the position of Member of Parliament for Soroti City West,” announced Gonzaga.

Following his nomination, Hon. Echodu, visibly delighted, expressed deep gratitude to his supporters and the NRM fraternity for their unwavering trust, promising to deliver a leadership model grounded in action and accountability.

“I have been duly nominated for the position of Soroti City West MP, and I want to say it’s time for development and new energy, not for jokers,” Echodu stated. “Parliament is not a place for stories or empty talk, but a house of action, direction, and transformation for our nation.”

Echodu emphasized that his leadership will focus on improving service delivery, particularly in healthcare, education, roads, and infrastructure, while prioritizing youth empowerment and poverty reduction across Soroti City and the greater Teso sub-region.

He further pledged to champion transparency and inclusivity, noting that his campaign is centered on restoring public confidence in leadership and ensuring government programs benefit ordinary citizens.

“I am ready to work with the people of Soroti City to ensure real change in service delivery and leadership that transforms lives,” he said.

Despite Soroti City West being largely considered an opposition stronghold, Hon. Echodu expressed optimism that the NRM’s renewed unity and commitment to service will shift the political landscape.

“Soroti City West has long been seen as an opposition area, but we are coming with one strong message — unity and action. The NRM has the numbers, and with teamwork, we shall make Soroti City shine yellow again,” he declared confidently.

Echodu also revealed that he will work closely with other NRM aspirants, including the City Woman MP and Mayoral candidates, to consolidate party strength and mobilize support at the grassroots level ahead of the 2026 general elections.

“We are organizing ourselves as a strong, united team — from MPs to councillors — to ensure that NRM regains its dominance in Soroti City. I am energized and ready to deliver victory,” he affirmed.

Launching his campaign under the slogan “New Energy for Development and Transformation,” Hon. Echodu David Calvin positions himself as a visionary leader ready to drive practical change, unity, and inclusive development for the people of Soroti City West.
