SOROTI CITY – As President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni prepares to begin his regional tour of Teso, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, David Calvin Echodu, and the National NRM Mobilizer for Teso Sub-Region, Acam Teddy, have called upon leaders and residents to rally behind the visit and present a united front for the region’s development.

Speaking to the media at Soroti Hotel, Echodu emphasized that the President’s visit is not merely ceremonial but a vital opportunity for the people of Teso to engage directly with the Head of State and present their most pressing concerns.

“This visit gives us a platform to raise critical issues affecting our people,” Echodu said.

He revealed that each district—Soroti, Serere, Kumi, Amuria, Kapelebyong, Kalaki, Bukedea, and Kaberamaido—has prepared a detailed memorandum outlining local priorities to ensure their voices are heard at the highest level.

Echodu commended the government for progress registered in areas such as road construction, rural electrification, and expansion of education facilities but stressed that more needs to be done to uplift ordinary households struggling with poverty and unemployment.

“We appreciate the gains made under the NRM government, but we must also be honest about the gaps. Many families are still grappling with low incomes, limited market access, and inadequate service delivery,” he added.

Meanwhile, llAcam Teddy urged residents from all walks of life to attend the President’s rallies, listen to his message, and share ideas that can shape the region’s future.

Acam also highlighted the increasing visibility of Iteso leaders at the national level, pointing to the appointments of Vice President Jessica Alupo, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, and Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Peter Okiding and others as evidence of Teso’s growing political influence.

President Museveni’s itinerary will include visits to Kaberamaido, Amuria, Katakwi, and other districts across the sub-region. He is expected to meet local leaders, interact with residents, and review progress on key government projects as part of efforts to consolidate development and strengthen NRM structures ahead of the 2026 elections.
