The Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Soroti City East, Claire Ayipo, has called for concerted efforts from local leaders and residents to protect government land from encroachment and illegal sale. She made the appeal during a budget conference held at Soroti City Council Hall, where she expressed concern over the growing number of cases involving individuals fraudulently buying and selling public land.

Ayipo revealed that her office has received several reports of encroachment, particularly in areas near the State Lodge in Soroti City, where some individuals have been sold land that rightfully belongs to the government. She described the situation as alarming, noting that it threatens future government development projects meant to benefit the public.

The Deputy RCC urged city leaders to exercise vigilance and take collective responsibility in safeguarding government property to ensure that public land remains available for future investments such as factories and infrastructure development.

Ayipo further encouraged residents to support President Yoweri Museveni’s vision of maintaining stability and promoting socio-economic transformation. She emphasized that protecting government assets is a shared duty that will help sustain the development gains achieved under the current administration.
