KAMPALA — A serious road accident on the Clock Tower flyover in Kampala has left Mrs. Gladys Mukula, wife of former Soroti Municipality MP and Ex-NRM Eastern Region CEC Member Capt. Mike Mukula, on Tuesday survived a serious road accident along the Clock Tower Flyover in Kampala.
According to eyewitness reports, the accident happened when a vehicle belonging to Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) and allocated to Rt. Maj. Rubamira Ruranga allegedly lost control and rammed into Mrs. Mukula’s car. The driver, who was reportedly over-speeding and driving recklessly, has admitted responsibility for the crash.
Traffic police quickly responded to the scene and towed the OWC vehicle for further inspection as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers will review statements from witnesses and assess the damage to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mrs. Mukula was rushed to Healing Ways Hospital in Kampala, where she is currently receiving medical attention. The extent of her injuries is yet to be disclosed, but medical staff confirm she remains under close monitoring.
The accident has intensified public concern over road safety in Kampala, especially regarding the conduct of drivers attached to government programs. Many citizens have shared messages of relief that Mrs. Mukula survived, while others have expressed frustration over repeated cases of reckless driving on major city roads.
Traffic police say the investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released once preliminary findings are complete.
