SOROTI CITY - The National Resistance Movement (NRM) is set to officially launch the parliamentary campaign of David Calvin Echodu for Soroti City West Division tomorrow, marking the beginning of what is expected to be an intense and highly followed political season in the city.

According to Soroti City NRM Chairperson, John Enomu, all preparations have been finalized for the grand kickoff, which will take place at Pamba Primary School. Enomu, who also serves as the NRM flag bearer for Soroti City West Division Mayor, confirmed the readiness while addressing journalists during a press briefing at Soroti Hotel on Monday afternoon.

He revealed that Echodu, a member of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC), will hold his first mass rally after weeks of indoor strategy meetings and community consultations.

“We want to thank the media and the people of Soroti, especially those from Soroti City West, for loving David Calvin Echodu and for loving His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Tomorrow is a day we have been waiting for,” Enomu said.

Although Echodu’s team has been engaging in quiet grassroots mobilization across the division, tomorrow’s gathering will be the first major public show of support expected to attract residents from Pamba and surrounding areas.

Enomu emphasized that the event is open to all supporters willing to attend, noting that no external mobilization or transportation of crowds will be done.

“We are not ferrying people. Those who can join the people of Pamba are welcome,” he noted.

The NRM chairperson expressed confidence that the rally would draw large numbers, citing growing public support for Echodu due to his long-standing involvement in community welfare and development initiatives.

“David Calvin Echodu has been doing a lot of work in Soroti City West. He has never been elected, but because of his good heart, he has been serving the people like a Member of Parliament,” Enomu added.

He described Echodu as a leader with the capacity and commitment to serve, saying the campaign launch marks the beginning of a transformative journey for the division.

Enomu dismissed circulating rumors claiming Echodu had withdrawn from the race due to national CEC duties, calling the reports a tactic by detractors to mislead the public.

“Those were lies meant to confuse people. I want to assure the public that tomorrow David Echodu will be in Pamba to officially begin his campaign,” he said.

He clarified that while Echodu may occasionally attend national meetings, such engagements will not disrupt the campaign program.

After the launch, the team will proceed to Orwadai Ward, followed by a series of rallies that will cover all wards in Soroti City West Division.

In a strongly worded message, Enomu cautioned NRM leaders in Soroti who are backing independent candidates publicly or quietly insisting such behavior contradicts party principles.

“If you are an NRM leader and you are supporting independent candidates, you must step down. You cannot hold a party office and undermine the official flag bearer,” he warned.

He urged party leaders and supporters to maintain unity as the campaign season gains momentum.

Enomu encouraged residents to turn up in large numbers and participate peacefully in the launch, expressing optimism that the event will set the tone for a successful campaign.

“We believe together we can make a difference for Soroti City. Tomorrow is the beginning of that journey,” he concluded.

The rally at Pamba Primary School is scheduled to start at 1 PM, featuring speeches from NRM leaders, local representatives, and the candidate himself. The event will pave the way for a comprehensive campaign trail across Soroti City West Division.
