Soroti City - NRM parliamentary candidate David Calvin Echodu earlier today during a rally in Orwadai Ward urged the residents of Soroti City West to prioritize development over tribalism as they approach the upcoming elections. Addressing a large gathering of supporters, Echodu emphasized the need for leadership that fosters growth and unity in the community.
In his speech, Echodu expressed gratitude for the support shown by constituents and highlighted the importance of their participation in the electoral process. He acknowledged the backing of Gen. Elwelu and commended the residents for their enthusiastic turnout. "I assure you that once given the mandate, I will ensure that all government pledges made to Soroti City West are fulfilled," he stated confidently.
Echodu criticized the divisive politics that have hindered progress in the region. "People of Soroti don’t eat tribalism. They want real development. This is the time to move forward and bring about change in Soroti City and the entire Teso region," he remarked, calling on voters to reject false promises and focus on tangible improvements in their lives.
He encouraged support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and other NRM candidates, framing the upcoming elections as a pivotal moment for the community's future. "Vote for leaders who walk the talk, not just talk for five years. Our focus must be on service delivery, not personal gain," Echodu asserted.
Before Echodu took the stage, NRM Chairperson for Soroti City, John Enomu, reiterated the message of unity and progress. He described Echodu as a "redeemer" for Soroti City West, criticizing past leadership under the Opposition for poor service delivery and slow infrastructure development. "NRM is here to correct the mistakes of the past, and Echodu is the bridge that will lead Soroti to real development," he said.
The rally was marked by a diverse display of community support, with youth groups, women’s councils, and local leaders all pledging their commitment to Echodu’s campaign. NRM strategists believe that with Gen. Elwelu’s endorsement, Echodu's message of development could resonate strongly with voters as the election race heats up.
As the campaign continues into other wards, David Calvin Echodu remains steadfast in his mission to transform Soroti City West, placing a clear emphasis on unity, development, and a departure from tribalistic politics.
With the electoral contest intensifying against incumbent FDC MP Jonathan Ebwalu and other candidates, Echodu’s vision for a developed and cohesive Soroti City West is poised to shape the political landscape in the region.
