The newly elected Members of Parliament from Serere District held a cordial and productive meeting today with the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, at Parliament.
The legislators reaffirmed their commitment to effective representation, unity, and coordinated leadership in advancing the development agenda of Serere District. The delegation included Peter Paul Emaju, MP-elect for Kasilo County; Emmanuel Omoding, MP for Serere County; Peter Ojiit, MP-elect for Pingire County; and Esther Lucy Acom, the Woman MP-elect for Serere District. This marked their first formal engagement with the Speaker since their election on January 15, 2026.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the Serere MPs and the Office of the Speaker, enhancing legislative effectiveness, and aligning parliamentary priorities with the district’s pressing development needs. Key areas highlighted included service delivery, infrastructure development, education, health services, accountability, and economic empowerment of local communities.
Esther Lucy Acom While speaking emphasized the importance of teamwork and a shared vision among the newly elected leaders. “Our people voted with hope and expectation. As leaders, we must rise above individual interests and focus on delivering meaningful change. Unity among us is not optional; it is a responsibility,” she said, adding that the caucus intends to ensure inclusive development across all sections of the district.
Rt. Hon. Anita Among welcomed the MPs and commended their early commitment to collective leadership. She highlighted that cohesive district caucuses play a crucial role in shaping effective legislation and influencing national development priorities.
The Speaker urged the MPs to remain focused on legislative excellence, active participation in parliamentary business, and constructive engagement with both the Executive and their constituents. “Parliament works best when Members are united, informed, and people-centered,” she said, urging them to let the voices of their communities guide their contributions on the floor of the House.
The meeting sets a strong foundation for Serere District’s newly elected MPs to work collaboratively in advancing development and improving service delivery for their constituents.
