TESO - Teso Province has clarified recent reports suggesting fatalities among supporters from the region following an incident at Uganda Technical College (UTC) Lira.
In an official statement, Jojo Cornelius Eetu, Head of Marketing and Communications, Teso Province, emphasized that no supporter from Teso lost their life in the incident, where three individuals reportedly fell from a rooftop.
The statement provided detailed updates on the injured:
Elotu John, from Ojama Village, Katine (Soroti), sustained a skull fracture and serious brain injuries. He underwent surgery successfully on Monday between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM and is currently admitted at Lacor Hospital.
Emitu Michael, from Serere District, has shown significant improvement and was transferred from Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH) to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital (SRRH). He is now out of danger.
Ayaka Elijah, from Arapai, continues to receive treatment at LRRH. Reports confirm that he is stable and also out of danger.
The statement expressed gratitude to the public for the overwhelming support and prayers extended to the injured. Special appreciation was given to Moses Attan, Member of Parliament-elect for Soroti City East, for his continuous follow-up and support towards the patients.
Residents have been urged to rely on verified information and continue offering prayers for the full recovery of the injured.
