Fans of Lyrical Jersy were left disappointed on Saturday evening after the singer’s highly anticipated concert at Soroti City Museum grounds was abruptly cancelled following a torrential downpour.
The event, which was expected to draw a massive crowd, came to a sudden halt as the heavens opened up over the city. Heavy rainfall, which began at approximately 4:00 PM and persisted relentlessly until 7:00 PM, left the venue waterlogged and the technical equipment vulnerable to damage.
As the situation worsened, organizers made the difficult decision to switch off the sound system, effectively ending the show before it could reach its peak. The sudden silence across the venue served as an unofficial signal to the disappointed attendees that the festivities had come to an end.
Shortly after the cancellation, a statement began circulating rapidly across various WhatsApp groups, clarifying the reason behind the premature conclusion of the event.
“The event has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances caused by bad weather,” the statement read.
While many fans expressed their frustration on social media, industry observers noted that the decision was made so fast alluding to the fact that several events have been held smoothly in Soroti city despite heavy downpour in the early hours of the evening.
"It rained heavily from 7pm till midnight during first edition of double trouble Festival but people still turned up and performances went on as planned" one analyst said
