Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has again stated he needs a centre-half signing after victory over Tottenham.
Joel Matip injured his ankle during the first half of the 3-1 Premier League win at Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening.
Liverpool were already without Fabinho, who had missed the game with a minor muscle issue.
With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez long-term injury victims, Liverpool ended the game with Jordan Henderson and Nat Phillips as the centre-back pairing, and 19-year-old Rhys Williams as the only other option.
Nathaniel Phillips, 23, replaced Matip at half-time while 19-year-old Rhys Williams has also featured for Liverpool this season.
"It's not just about bringing a body in. Nate and Rhys have done so well," added Klopp, who says Matip has suffered ankle ligament damage.
"The situation is unbelievably strange. We will see what we do but this tonight did not help. It looks like something serious."
