Several groups in Ngariam County, Katakwi District, have started receiving generous support from Ngariam MP aspirants to boost their earnings.

The support was donated by Dan Mulalu, the private secretary in charge of mobilisation in the Office of the President, through the Kazi Ni Kazi Foundation, as part of his contribution to the development of various groups in Ngariam County.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, noting that they had been struggling in their group in order to raise funds to boost their wellbeing.

Hon. Simon Peter Otukei, chairman of the Lalei joint farmers group in Lalei parish, Akoboi sub-county, commended Mulalu for his support, particularly in providing Ugx 1 million needed for it.

“We had deposited Ugx 1.2m shillings for the tent but lacked the resources to complete its purchase,” Otukei said.

He adds that the group has 82 members, all of whom are doing trepidatious work.

Meanwhile, Stephen Obwalinga a resident of Lalei A, applauded Mulalu for his tireless work towards developing trading centres by putting in solar power, which has curbed the spread of HIV/AIDS in various centres.

Hon. Hellen Bertice Iboot, Katakwi town council, also acknowledged the impact of the donation, emphasizing that the support will be significant with the ongoing work in the groups.

Speaking at the event, Mulalu emphasized that the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility to the communities they operate in.

Mulalu urged the people of Ngariam to embrace government programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga to combat poverty.

He encouraged residents to form organized groups to maximize the benefits of these initiatives.

However, he calls on the Ngariam electorates to be peaceful during the forthcoming elections in 2026.
