Soroti City – In a historic event, Teso College Aloet marked the beginning of a new chapter with the official handover ceremony of its Board of Governors. The event, held at the school's premises, was attended by esteemed guests, including high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, local government leaders, alumni, and staff, all gathered to witness the transition of leadership at one of Teso sub-region’s most respected institutions.
The handover ceremony not only highlighted the importance of leadership in the academic sector but also served as a testament to the school’s commitment to achieving greater heights in educational excellence.
Mr. Musingo Moses, the Assistant Commissioner for Government Secondary Education, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the value of voluntary service on school boards, noting its pivotal role in shaping the future of students and the broader community.
“Serving on the Board of Governors is more than a responsibility – it’s a chance to contribute to the development of our youth and society,” Mr. Musingo remarked. “The outgoing board has laid a strong foundation, and the incoming team must carry this momentum forward with integrity and vision.”
The handover ceremony also saw the outgoing Board Chairperson, Ms. Rose Linda Oyuu, deliver a heartfelt farewell address. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the school and acknowledged the many milestones achieved during her tenure. These included key infrastructural improvements, enhanced academic performance, and the strengthening of partnerships with stakeholders.
“Our achievements are a direct result of collaboration between the administration, teachers, students, and the broader community,” Oyuu stated. “This handover signifies our collective commitment to the continued growth of Teso College Aloet.”
Following the formal handover, the newly appointed Board of Governors was introduced, with Rev. Canon Samuel Ediau stepping in as the new Chairperson. In his inaugural remarks, Rev. Ediau expressed his enthusiasm for the journey ahead, underscoring his commitment to building on the legacy of the institution.
“This is not just a new chapter; it’s part of a divine plan,” Rev. Ediau said. “With the support of my team, we will work tirelessly to continue elevating Teso College Aloet to new heights of excellence and innovation.”
The headteacher of Teso College Aloet, Mr. Julius Opasso, also extended his full confidence in the incoming leadership, highlighting the collaborative potential between the administration and the new board. With 12 members on the newly constituted board, Opasso expressed optimism for the future.
“I believe this board will continue fostering a culture of discipline, excellence, and innovation,” Opasso said. “Together, we will ensure Teso College Aloet remains a leader in shaping the future of education in this region.”
The ceremony concluded on a positive note, with all attendees reaffirming their commitment to supporting the school’s mission and vision. The handover marks a significant step forward for Teso College Aloet as it embraces a bright future under new leadership.
