Alebtong receives UGX 850 million for Expansion of health services

Alebtong District Local Government has received funding worth UGX 800,050,000  for upgrading Adwiri health center II to health center III this financial year.

 

Dr. Tonny Odung, the District Health Officer Alebtong, said the funding came from the ministry of health Uganda through Uganda Intergovernmental fiscal transfer Programs (UGIFT).

 

The Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program Project for Uganda is a World Bank Funded program meant to improve the adequacy and equity of fiscal transfers and improve fiscal management of resources by Local Governments for health and education services.

 

Dr.Odung said that the project has two components one for construction of the placenta pit, medical waste pit, Out Patient Department, maternity ward, and laboratory with funds allocated worth 600,050,000 shs.

 

The second component with additional funding of 200 million will be used for the purchase of medical equipment.

 

“All the two components are undergoing the procurement and once finished, actual works will commence,” he said.

 

Robert Adyama Resident District Commissioner confirmed the development adding that construction shall kick off anytime soon.

 

“I may not be sure of the exact money but we received money and work will kick on soon,” he said.

 

Alebtong District is located in the Lango sub-region. The district is bordered by Otuke District to the north, Amuria District to the east, Dokolo District to the south, and Lira District to the west.
