KAMPALA - Tubur Sub-county councilor in Soroti District, Hon. Bob Owiny, has put Teso on the national map after winning the prestigious title of Uganda’s Best Male Politician during the 2024 National Citizen Integrity Awards.

Organized by ActionAid, the ceremony, held at Protea Hotel in Kampala, recognized individuals who have shown exemplary commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership.  

Held under the theme “Promoting Integrity and Citizen Involvement in the War Against Corruption,” the awards celebrate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to fighting corruption and promoting integrity in their respective fields. Hon. Owiny’s recognition serves as a testament to his tireless efforts in combating corruption and championing transparency in governance.  

Renowned for his boldness, sincerity, and courage in addressing critical societal issues, Hon. Owiny has emerged as a transformative leader in the Teso sub-region. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a fearless advocate for fairness, equality, and justice, earning admiration both locally and nationally.  

The recognition by ActionAid highlights Hon. Owiny’s unwavering dedication to putting the needs of his people first. As the district councilor for Tubur, he has spearheaded initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening governance structures in Soroti District.  

During the award ceremony, Hon. Owiny expressed joy and gratitude as he posed for photos with fellow leaders and admirers, though he was unavailable for comment by press time. His win has not only cemented his legacy as an ethical and people-centered leader but has also fueled excitement across Teso as the region celebrates one of its own receiving national acclaim.

Adding to his growing profile, Hon. Owiny has announced his intention to contest for the LC5 position in Soroti District in the 2026 elections. Supporters believe his experience and vision position him as the ideal candidate to lead the district into a new era of development and accountability.
