The Teso music scene is heating up as 2025 kicks off with a bang! While fans are grooving to fresh hits, a brewing controversy has emerged, with some Iteso accusing Kampala's top producers of failing to uplift local artists. In the midst of the drama, one name is stealing the spotlight.

Tyra Nana Known as Teso's queen of vocals and 2024's Teso Entertainment Award Female Artist of the Year, Tyra Nana has sent shockwaves through her fan base with the announcement of her latest single, "Ijo"—a love anthem that promises to shake the tables and hearts this Valentine’s season. "Ijo," a local word meaning "you," is set to drop today and is already being dubbed the perfect soundtrack for romance.

This comes after two of Teso’s prominent male artists, Rody Gavana and Richo Ranking, released their latest tracks, both produced in Kampala. Rody Gavana’s "Omooyo," crafted by the legendary Daddy Andre, has sparked both applause and debate online. Meanwhile, Richo Ranking’s "Isirigin," produced by Ricko of Panda Rickodz, has also been turning heads since its release on January 10th, 2025. Despite the hype, a section of fans feels Kampala producers haven’t done justice to Teso’s rich musical heritage.
