Amuria District – In a heartfelt gesture of leadership and community service, Omaria Emmanuel, a candidate for the Eastern Youth MP seat, on Monday,24th, 2025, led a delegation to various health centers and schools in Amuria District. His visit, done in collaboration with Hon. Musa Francis Ecweru the state Minister of Transport and Work and the area MP of Amuria county, was aimed at supporting maternal health and education, two crucial pillars for the district’s development.

The initiative saw Omaria and his team visit Wera Health Centre III, St. Michael Health Centre III, and Asamuk Health Centre III, where they distributed mama kits, newborn kits, and baby blankets to over 100 women. The initiative was made possible with support from American friends of Hon. Musa Ecweru, who provided donations to assist expectant mothers and new parents in the region.

The visit also extended to Wera Seed Secondary School, where more than 240 female students from Senior Three, Four, and Six received undergarments, a critical necessity for young girls that often goes overlooked. Omaria emphasized that ensuring girls have the basic supplies they need can contribute to their retention in school, particularly as Wera Seed Secondary School continues to perform well in national exams.

The initiative was warmly received by local leaders and the community. Okiror Nathan, the Vice Chairman of Amuria District Local Government, praised Omaria for his commitment to public service:

"While he is running for the youth MP seat, he did not hesitate to help mothers, even though they are not part of the electoral college that votes for his position. His selfless leadership shows that he truly cares about the well-being of all people, regardless of whether they can vote for him or not."

Godfrey Ewalu, the District Youth Leader of Asamuk County, also commended the effort, describing it as an exemplary act of leadership.

"This kind of support is rare. It’s encouraging to see leaders like Omaria Emmanuel stepping forward to help the people. Asamuk Health Centre III serves multiple parishes, but our maternity ward is too small to handle the growing population. Seeing leaders bring real support to the people gives us hope".

Speaking about the initiative, Omaria Emmanuel reaffirmed his dedication to uplifting the youth and addressing critical challenges at the grassroots level.

"Many young people in the region are struggling—graduates without jobs, students without adequate support, and communities lacking essential services. Leadership is about taking action, not just making promises. This initiative is just the beginning of what we can do together."

Omaria also emphasized that his campaign is focused on bringing services closer to the people, not just advocating for the youth but ensuring that families and communities receive the support they need to thrive.

Health workers at the visited facilities expressed deep appreciation for the donation, acknowledging that many mothers arrive at hospitals unprepared due to financial difficulties.

Prisca Ajemo, the maternity in-charge at Asamuk Health Centre III, urged expectant mothers to deliver in health facilities rather than at home, now that some essential supplies had been provided.

"Many mothers hesitate to come to the hospital because they cannot afford the required delivery items. This support will make a big difference and encourage more women to seek safe delivery services."

Several mothers who received supplies shared their gratitude, noting that the donation came at a time when they needed it most.

This initiative was not just a political move -it held a deeply personal significance for Omaria Emmanuel, as the outreach was conducted in honor of his mother’s birthday. Instead of a personal celebration, he chose to give back to the community as a tribute to the woman who raised him.

"My mother taught me the value of kindness and service. Today, as we celebrate her life, I wanted to extend that same kindness to other mothers and young girls in our district. When we support women, we uplift entire families and strengthen our community."

As the race for the Eastern Youth MP seat (2026–2031) gains momentum, Omaria’s initiative has set him apart as a leader of action, not just words. His commitment to improving maternal health, education, and youth empowerment has already made a tangible impact in Amuria District.

If his campaign continues on this path of service-driven leadership, Omaria Emmanuel could emerge not just as a strong candidate, but as a true representative of the people.
