SOROTI CITY – With the 2026 general elections on the horizon, a powerful new voice is rising in the political landscape of Teso. Peter Carlos Ebiau, an independent parliamentary aspirant for Kasilo County in Serere District, has launched a bold call to action, urging the electorate to reject inactive leadership and demand accountability, service, and progress.
Speaking during a media interview at Sanctuary Meat House in Campswahili, Soroti City, Carlos delivered a passionate critique of the status quo. “Teso must wake up! We cannot continue to reward leaders who have done nothing but occupy space. Leadership must be about action, not comfort. The time for change is now,” he said.
Carlos is mounting a strong challenge against Elijah Okupa, the long-serving Member of Parliament for Kasilo County who has held the seat for 24 years. While acknowledging Okupa’s experience, Carlos questioned the effectiveness of such prolonged leadership, citing underdevelopment and unfulfilled promises as major concerns.
“We’ve had enough dormancy and recycled promises. Where are the schools, the roads, the hospitals? Why are land services still a nightmare? Twenty-four years is too long to have nothing tangible to show,” he emphasized.
The former President of Soroti Lions Club and a well-known civic leader, Carlos is positioning himself as a reformist committed to grassroots empowerment, transparent governance, and development-first politics. He believes that Kasilo County deserves new leadership that will revamp the education system, strengthen healthcare delivery, and invest in road networks that connect communities and promote economic growth. He also vowed to streamline land administration processes to ease access to land titles and resolve long-standing disputes.
Carlos further stressed the importance of empowering youth and women through skills training and inclusive economic opportunities, asserting that true leadership must uplift every segment of society. “We can no longer entertain leaders who show up only during campaigns. Leadership must be lived every day—listening, solving, building, and standing with the people,” he said.
His fiery message is resonating across Kasilo County and beyond, particularly among young voters and community-based groups who are disillusioned with traditional politics. His insistence on active, present, and accountable leadership is sparking what supporters are calling a people’s revolution.
“This election is not just about winning a seat. It’s about restoring dignity to our communities and reclaiming a future that belongs to all of us,” he declared. Carlos also reminded voters that change is within their power, adding, “The ballot is not just paper. It is a voice. A sword. Let’s use it to cut through the lies and build the Teso we deserve.”
With the campaign trail heating up, Peter Carlos Ebiau is emerging not only as a strong contender but also as a symbol of political awakening in the Teso sub-region. Whether he succeeds at the polls remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—his message has sparked a conversation that can no longer be ignored.
