Veteran Ugandan striker Emmanuel Okwi has officially completed a high-profile move to Rwanda Premier League side Police FC, adding significant and invaluable experience to their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The club confirmed the acquisition with a brief statement, "We are pleased to welcome Emmanuel Okwi to Police FC."

Okwi arrives at Police FC after a highly successful one-year stint with AS Kigali, where his contract recently expired. Despite announcing his retirement from international football with the Uganda Cranes in March this year, the former national captain showcased remarkable form in the Rwandan top flight.

He was instrumental for AS Kigali last season, leading the club's scoring charts with nine goals and narrowly missing out on the Golden Boot, finishing just three strikes behind the joint-top scorers. His prolific output played a crucial role in AS Kigali securing a commendable third place with 49 points and earned him a nomination for the Best Player of the Season award.

Police FC are clearly banking on Okwi's proven goal-scoring ability and extensive experience within the Rwandan league. This isn't Okwi's first time playing in Rwanda, having previously featured for Kiyovu Sports, a factor that will undoubtedly help him settle quickly into his new environment.

Over his illustrious career, Okwi has donned the jerseys of numerous prominent clubs across Africa, Europe, and Asia. His journey includes stints with SC Villa (Uganda), Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Young Africans, Etoile Sportive du Sahel (Tunisia), Ittihad Alexandria (Egypt), Sonderjyske (Denmark), and Al-Zawraa (Iraq).

Okwi's arrival is expected to provide a significant boost to Police FC's attacking prowess as they eye a strong campaign in the upcoming season.
