Soroti City – Over 400 Senior Six students of Jeressar High School have been officially briefed ahead of the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations. The exercise, held in the school’s main hall, aimed at preparing candidates both mentally and emotionally for the forthcoming national examinations.

The session was presided over by the school’s leadership, the UNEB chief invigilator, and members of the Board of Governors.

The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr. Moses Oyematum, urged the candidates to remain composed and focused during the examination period. He reminded them that the effort and financial sacrifices made by their parents and guardians should motivate them to excel.

“The strength of those who pay your school fees lies in your performance. Let this be your time to shine and make them proud,” Mr. Oyematum advised. He also emphasized discipline, composure, and respect for those who have supported them throughout their academic journey.

He commended the government and security agencies for maintaining peace and stability, which allows students across the country to sit their exams without disruption. Mr. Oyematum also cautioned students to remain vigilant during the holidays after their exams, avoid risky behavior, and make responsible life choices.

The Chief Invigilator, Mr. Omogin Simon Peter, noted that the briefing began at 9 a.m. and ended peacefully after opening prayers. He explained that the session was aimed at easing tension among students and communicating UNEB’s rules and regulations.

“By the end of the briefing, students were calm and confident. We are optimistic that they will perform well since their teachers have done a great job preparing them,” Mr. Omogin said.

The Head Teacher, Ms. Asekenye Bertha, encouraged the candidates to remain focused, confident, and disciplined throughout the examination period. She reminded them that they have already undergone several internal tests as preparation and are ready to face the national exams.

The Director of Studies, Mr. Kassada Joseph, urged the students to always keep time, maintain discipline, and avoid any malpractice that could jeopardize their future.

The UACE examinations are set to commence on Monday, November 10, 2025, with Physics and History in the morning, followed by Literature, Physics Paper II, and Kiswahili in the afternoon. The exams will continue until December 5, 2025.

Several students expressed confidence and readiness for the examinations. Emmanuel Deklan Odyeng, a BCM/ICT candidate, said he is eager to begin and expects excellent results, crediting the school’s dedicated teachers. Echangoit Ronald, a PEM/ICT candidate, expressed optimism, saying, “We have covered the syllabus and done many tests; I can’t wait to make my teachers and parents proud.”
