The National Resistance Movement (NRM) parliamentary candidate for Dakabela County Peter Edopu Edeku, has called on voters in Dakabela and across the Teso sub-region to critically assess their leaders and hold them accountable for the promises they made while in office.
Edopu made the remarks on Tuesday while campaigning in Oculoi Sub-county, where he addressed residents of Olano A, Olano B, and Acam villages. He was warmly received by enthusiastic supporters who expressed strong backing for his candidature.
Speaking to the gatherings, Edopu questioned the practice of re-electing leaders who, in his view, have failed to deliver on their campaign pledges. He emphasized that leadership should be anchored in honesty and accountability, rather than empty promises.
“Leadership should never be built on lies,” Edopu said. “A good leader makes himself accountable to the people and ensures that the promises made are fulfilled.”
He noted that in Dakabela County and parts of the wider Teso sub-region, some incumbent leaders avoid their constituents after elections and seek re-election without explaining their performance in office. Edopu urged voters to reject such practices and instead elect leaders who are transparent, truthful, and committed to service delivery.
Edopu’s campaign message centers on accountability, grassroots engagement, and restoring trust between leaders and the electorate, principles he says are essential for meaningful development in Dakabela County and the Teso sub-region at large.
