An accident that occurred this evening in Bukedea has left three people dead and several critically injured.
According to SP Ageca Oscar Gregg the PRO East Kyoga Police in a press statement, the accident happened at 04:00 PM at Tamula along Mbale-Soroti highway involving a motor vehicle registration number UBK 702H Toyota Hiace white in color.
A single fatal accident case file was registered under vide TAR 16/2023 by the Bukedea district territorial police
The eyewitnesses say that the said motor vehicle was allegedly speeding when its tyre burst causing it to career off the road.
Among those who lost their lives in the fatal accident include the driver identified as Tukei Amis a male adult resident of Soroti city, Arukundo Christine a female adult passenger resident in Kapelebeyong and a yet-to-be-identified female adult passenger who all died at the scene.
According to Ageca, Other victims who sustained various injuries are Aruo Florence a female adult resident in Kapelebeyong, two female minors who were rushed to Atutur Hospital, while the other Victims were rushed to Mbale regional referral Hospital include, Aripu Ambrose a male adult resident in Soroti, Okedi John a male adult resident Kumi, Aguti Mary a female adult resident in Nyero, Kumi district, Kibone Alice a female adult, and Marsha Singh a male adult resident in Mbale city and a mechanic with UNRA.
"We have managed the scene and conveyed the bodies of the deceased persons to Bukedea health center IV mortuary and Atutur hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination. The Motor vehicle has been towed to CPS Bukedea pending inspection by the IOV", he added.
