SOROTI - Journalists in teso sub region have greatly been applauded for the fight in combating the spread of COVID-19 virus that claimed lives of many in the region and country at large.
The remarks were made by different stake holders during the health journalism network Uganda - HEJNU Teso media cafe on COVID-19 and mental health held at Paxland motel in Soroti city with the theme aftermath effects of covid-19 on November, 03,2023.
Dr. Etolu John Wilson, consultant physician working at Soroti regional referral hospital who was at the fore line leading his team in the fight, said that during the time people were all at night,media played a big role in spreading health messages and all presidential directives, move that helped to curb the spread of the virus.
He also added that through the media, they were able to pass out messages to large masses of people within the community.
Egunyu George Michael the former LC5 chair person and COVID-19 survivor said that journalists in teso played a big role and are part of the front liners in the fight against the pandemic and should be recognized.
Meanwhile Benson Ekuwe, the director public affairs centre (PAC) Uganda said that media was a mouth piece of broadcasting information and educating masses about the pandemic.
