Soroti, Uganda – The Burial Organizing Committee has announced a series of changes to the funeral arrangements for Apio Joan Faith, a six-year-old pupil of Jozan Nursery and Primary School, following overwhelming public demand. The revised plans are intended to reflect the wishes of the community and ensure a respectful and fitting farewell for the young girl.
In a letter issued on Friday, February 14, 2025, Otukei Steven, Chairperson of the Burial Organizing Committee, shared the updated details with the public. The committee emphasized that the alterations were made in response to feedback from the community.
"We hope this message finds you well. We would like to inform you of some important changes to the burial arrangements for our beloved Apio Joan Faith, following public demand and feedback from the community," Otukei stated in the letter, which was circulated in the funeral planning WhatsApp group.
Apio Joan Faith tragically passed away on Wednesday, 6th February 2025, under heartbreaking circumstances. Her lifeless body was discovered in a school latrine, with a deep cut on her neck, just days after she and her twin sister, Suzan Acen, were enrolled in the boarding section of Jozan Nursery and Primary School. Her death has sparked an outpouring of grief and public outrage.
Updated Burial Schedule
1. Requiem Mass
Date: Sunday, 16th February 2025
Time: 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Venue: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Soroti City-East
2. Body Viewing
Location: Nakatunya Home, near Harmony Nursery School, Soroti City-West
Time: 3:40 PM – 4:00 PM
3. Public Viewing and Procession
Following the viewing at Nakatunya, the body will be transported to Magoro Health Centre III for public viewing.
At 5:00 PM, the body will be moved to Ateuso Village, Kapelebyong District, where the final burial will take place on Monday, 17th February 2025.
4. Transportation Arrangements
Transportation will be provided for mourners traveling from Soroti and Katakwi.

5. Final Burial Arrangement Meeting
