SERERE- The Serere District Local Government proudly announces the acquisition of a new, state-of-the-art Land Cruiser ambulance from the Ministry of Health. It will be stationed in Kasilo county to serve the community.
Procured under the Uganda COVID-19 Response Preparedness Project, this ambulance stands as a crucial addition to the district's healthcare infrastructure.
During the NRM liberation belated celebrations at Serere district headquarters yesterday, Richard Todwong, the Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement, highlighted that the ambulance was a generous donation from the President of Uganda. He emphasized its mission to serve and assist all residents, irrespective of political affiliations, underlining its importance in addressing healthcare needs across the community.
Todwong also urged the ambulance operators to prioritize its safety, maintenance, and emphasized the imperative of responsible driving, emphasizing its primary focus on healthcare delivery rather than social activities.
Meanwhile, the State Minister for Fisheries, also serving as the area Woman MP, clarified that no MP had lobbied for the ambulance. Instead, it stemmed from a directive issued by the President during a cabinet meeting, aimed at providing ambulances to all Health Centers IVs lacking such resources, especially with the gradual easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
"As Adoa, I refrain from claiming credit for acquiring this ambulance. What if I had requested one from Museveni and hadn't received it? Let's express gratitude to our government," she added, emphasizing the collective effort required in advancing healthcare provision.
