Teargas rocked Soroti Municipality this afternoon as Police dispersed Forum for Democratic Change supporters who had gathered at Soroti Public Gardens to celebrate Party's 15th Anniversary.
This lasted for close to four hours as business in town came to standstill.
FDC Party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi said that they had written to Inspector General of Police about the event
"A letter was posted to every DPC countrywide, the director of Operations should have the letter in his office" He said
However, District Police Commander Soroti Jamada Wandera denied receiving any notification about the function
"We do not have any clearance from headquaters and we can't allow this meeting." Wandera Said
He added that FDC was supposed to follow procedures before gathering the public.
During this incident, two toddlers chocked on teargas and were rushed to clinics in outskirts of the town
By Press time, Patrick Amuriat and other FDC officials were driven to Soroti Central Police Station as Anti-riot police kept presence in town.
