During a press conference held at Hyde Park, Acom, who contested against incumbent MP and State Minister for Fisheries, Hon. Hellen Adoa, claimed the election was marred by gross electoral malpractices. She cited inflated vote tallies, voter intimidation, and the removal of her polling agents from several stations as major issues undermining the credibility of the election.
“I have already filed a petition to the NRM Electoral Commission,” Acom announced. “The results declared do not reflect the will of the people. I urge my supporters to remain calm and peaceful as we await the Commission's decision.”
Acom extended heartfelt thanks to her supporters, acknowledging their overwhelming show of love and trust throughout the campaign.
Richard Emanio, head of Acom’s campaign task force, expressed deep disappointment in the process, describing it as a “massive robbery of votes.” He highlighted several polling stations where he alleged the results were deliberately altered.
“In Okidi Parish, for example, our tally shows Acom with 215 votes and Adoa with 92. However, the returning officer declared Adoa with 330 votes and Acom with just 51,” Emanio stated.
He further pointed to discrepancies in handwriting and signatures on official result forms in Abulubulu, as well as suspicious tallies in villages like Akomoi and Olumot, where elections allegedly did not occur or numbers were grossly inflated in favor of Minister Adoa.
The NRM Electoral Commission has yet to issue an official response.
