Soroti District – In a bold and passionate address, Presidential Advisor and National NRM Mobilizer Teddy Acham has come out strongly against political aspirants who claim to have been sent by State House to secure support in upcoming elections.
Speaking during an empowerment program organized by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) at Katine Sub-county headquarters in Soroti District, Acham emphasized that such claims are misleading and undermine the democratic values promoted by President Museveni.
“The power belongs to the people—not State House,” Acham said. “Whoever comes here saying they were sent from the House is misleading you. Let them not brainwash voters. We must let the people choose freely.”
The event, presided over by Hajjati Hadijja Namyalo and attended by various stakeholders, was part of a wider campaign to strengthen grassroots mobilization and empower local communities.
Acham expressed concern that some aspirants are exploiting the name of the President to fast-track their ambitions, which she warned could trigger protest votes against the ruling party.
“I have seen people come with lies, saying ‘I’ve been sent by State House’—yet they have no official endorsement,” she noted. “That kind of deception challenges the credibility of our democracy and confuses our supporters.”
She urged the electorate to scrutinize all aspirants and not be swayed by claims of State House backing, emphasizing that no candidate has been officially endorsed by the President or State House for any local position.
Reflecting on her own political journey, Acham stated: “I have never used the name of State House in any of my campaigns. I stand on my own merit, and I’ve never lost. I mostly stand against men because we need more women in leadership. I don’t stand against fellow women—we need to uplift them.”
Acham called on NRM supporters to remain vigilant and uphold the spirit of democracy. “President Museveni gave people the power to choose. No one should come and control that power with lies. Reject anyone who claims guaranteed victory because they were ‘sent by State House’.”
