Kumi District – His Royal Highness Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng, the Paramount Chief of the Iteso, has unveiled a bold new initiative aimed at tackling school dropout rates and reviving the education sector in the Teso sub-region through the launch of the Emorimor Education Fund.

Addressing clan leaders and the community in Kanyumu County, Kumi District, Emorimor described the fund as a critical tool to uplift the academic performance and future prospects of Iteso children.

“We are soon launching the Emorimor Education Fund, an initiative developed by our cultural institution to complement the government’s efforts in ensuring education for all,” he announced.

While praising the government’s Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) programs, Emorimor urged communities to take ownership of their children’s education.

He expressed concern over the rising number of school dropouts, especially among vulnerable children such as orphans and those lacking adequate family support.

“Many children are forced out of school due to financial hardship. The Emorimor Education Fund will directly support such learners, ensuring they remain in school and complete their studies,” he stated.

In addition to financial support, the fund seeks to empower clan chairpersons to monitor education standards and mobilize local support across Teso.

“For us to build a powerful and resilient community, we must invest in our human resource, and this starts with education,” the Emorimor added.

The official launch of the fund is slated for October 22, 2025, during a high-profile fundraising event. Each clan is expected to contribute UGX 100,000 annually, with proceeds used to support primary, secondary, and tertiary students.

As part of his grassroots mobilization campaign, Emorimor is currently touring Kumi District to rally support. On Thursday, he visited several institutions, including Kakures Primary School, Agaitha Modern Schools, and Ojie Memorial Secondary School, before addressing a large crowd at Kanyumu Comprehensive Secondary School.
