Solomon Osiyya Alemu,a parliamentary aspirant for Toroma County, has unveiled a bold and comprehensive agenda aimed at challenging the leadership of incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Koluo Joseph Andrew. Osiyya’s vision focuses on transformative development, poverty alleviation, and restoring dignity to the people of Toroma.
Following his decisive victory in the NRM party primaries, Osiyya expressed confidence that his leadership will bring the much-needed change to the county. “The people of Toroma deserve more than empty promises and ineffective leadership. My agenda is to bring sustainable projects that not only improve infrastructure but also uplift the spirit and dignity of our people,” he said.
Osiyya questioned the effectiveness of the current incumbent’s leadership in addressing the pressing challenges facing Toroma. “There are many questions about whether this is the kind of leadership that can truly serve our people, especially given the high levels of poverty and underdevelopment,” he noted. He added that his goal is to change this narrative by championing community-focused development that directly addresses the needs of the people.
One of the cornerstones of Osiyya’s agenda is poverty reduction. He emphasized the need for a leader who goes beyond government programs to engage with the community at grassroots level, understanding their specific challenges and opportunities. “Poverty in Toroma remains a significant challenge, and it calls for leadership that listens and acts, working hand in hand with the people to develop practical solutions,” he explained.
Osiyya’s commitment to community development is backed by a track record of impactful initiatives. He is a key member of Pilgrim, an organization that in 2008 successfully led a large scale spraying campaign across Katakwi, Kapujan, and Toroma, protecting communities from disease for over a decade. Additionally, he facilitated the introduction of Enterprise Uganda to the county, which has trained local youth in income generating activities.
Moreover, through his extensive network and personal commitment, Osiyya has supported the education of over 200 children in the area, further underlining his focus on human capital development.
As Toroma gears up for the 2026 general elections, Solomon Osiyya positions himself as a fresh alternative to the incumbent, promising leadership grounded in service, development, and dignity. “My vision is clear to bring lasting change to Toroma and ensure that every citizen can live with pride and hope for a better future,” Osiyya concluded.
