Soroti Woman MP Candidate Escapes Tragedy in Horrific Road Accident

Soroti District Woman Member of Parliament (MP) candidate, Egabu Joan, narrowly escaped serious injury in a road accident that occurred yesterday evening in Awali Wali Village, Gweri County, Soroti District. The incident, which took place around 6:30 PM, left Egabu and three other passengers injured.
 
 
According to a police statement (TSD 05/03/12/2025, TAR 137/2025), the accident involved a silver Toyota Mark X, registration number UBH 254C, which was traveling from Awali Wali towards Arapai. Reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp bend, causing it to veer off the road and overturn twice. The force of the crash resulted in significant damage to the vehicle, though the identities of the driver and the othersbhave not yet been confirmed by authorities.
 
 
Police officers from Soroti, including Sgt. Chothembu Innocent and PC Emusukut James, responded promptly to the scene, where they conducted a preliminary assessment of the accident. All four individuals, including the Soroti Woman MP candidate, sustained injuries and were quickly transported to Bethesda Hospital by local good Samaritans. Although their exact conditions have not been disclosed, the authorities have assured the public that they are monitoring the situation closely.
 
 
The vehicle remains at the scene, awaiting towing to Soroti Central Police Station for further investigation. Authorities are working to identify the cause of the crash and determine whether there was any foul play or negligence involved.
