Retail fuel buyers from different parts of Teso sub-region are currently facing a hard time as some fuel stations in Soroti city are turning them away with their jerricans as they come to buy fuel following the huge fuel crisis in the country.

According to an anonymous source, the rejection of the retailers is to help save other fuel consumers like boda bodas, taxi operators, and others who are trying to survive unlike some who want to take advantage of the situation as they hike the price of a litre of petrol from 10,000-12,000 UGX respectively in the rural areas.

" We shall allow them to come with jerricans once the situation normalizes bUt for now it's either a motorbike or vehicle" the source added.

Boda bodas cry out
Peter Okello a boda-boda rider in Soroti town says that the situation is so alarming that they may also be forced to increase the transport fare depending on the distance as they don't earn much too following the fuel crisis.

"We have families to feed and bosses to balance with by the end of the day,it has forced me to work even the whole night following what I have to get after work" Asuman a Boda Boda rider said.

Currently, in Soroti city different fuel stations sell fuel at different prices, Shell petrol station is highly packed with boda boda lining up for fuel. At Shell, a liter of petrol is sold at 4,910, diesel at 4,150 meanwhile other petrol stations like Hass a liter of petrol is at 5800 and 3900 for diesel.
