As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries scheduled for July 17th draw closer, the political landscape in Soroti City East Division is heating up. On the fifth day of the joint campaign trail, Parliamentary aspirant Isaac Orego made a powerful entry into Aloet ward, drawing a large and enthusiastic crowd that underscored his growing dominance in the race.
Orego's reception in Aloet was visibly more spirited compared to that of his competitors, a reflection of his increasing popularity and grassroots support. Residents welcomed him with chants, songs, and personal testimonies of how his initiatives have already made a difference in their lives.
Community members credited Orego for his practical contributions to economic empowerment and household development. “He has helped many families to start small businesses, and his support has lifted many out of poverty,” said by one resident. “He doesn’t just promise — he delivers.”
Addressing his supporters, Orego laid out a development-driven agenda centered on empowering small-scale enterprises, enhancing road infrastructure, improving educational institutions, and strengthening health services. “My vision is to build a stronger and more self-reliant Soroti East,” Orego stated. “We must open up roads to markets, improve the quality of our schools, and provide better healthcare access for every resident.”
Orego also pledged to continue working hand-in-hand with local leaders and the community to ensure inclusive and sustainable development. His emphasis on visibility, accessibility, and results-driven leadership has earned him notable favor among voters, particularly in rural and low-income areas.
As the NRM prepares to choose its flag bearer for Soroti City East Division, Orego’s rising momentum is shaping him as the candidate to watch. His growing support base, coupled with his clear development agenda, positions him as a likely front-runner in the party’s internal contest.
With just days remaining, the final stretch of the campaign will determine whether Orego’s vision and community-centered approach will carry him across the finish line and onto the general election ballot.
