SOROTI – Today, schools across Uganda began the first stage of the UNEB briefing in preparation for the upcoming UACE exams, which commence on Monday. At Jeressar High School in Soroti City, a spirit of confidence and excitement filled the air as Senior Six students gathered for an inspiring briefing session, setting the tone for the crucial weeks ahead.
With a balanced cohort of 387 students – an even mix of both boys and girls – Jeressar High is renowned for its academic rigor and nurturing environment, a legacy that students and staff alike are eager to uphold.
The school Head Teacher Asekenye Bertha spoke with confidence, highlighting the school’s careful preparations and high expectations for this year's candidates. "We have a motivated and well-prepared group, and we’re expecting over 20 students to score the maximum 20 points," she noted. "Our approach goes beyond academics; we invest in each student’s overall growth. This year, unlike last, we have no repeaters, and we are proud to report zero cases of pregnancy or special needs among the candidates. Our students are ready for success."
Mrs. Asekenye also encouraged parents to stand by their children, particularly the girls, as they cross this significant milestone. "We ask parents to continue supporting their daughters," she said. "We’ll be sending them home after exams, and a safe, supportive environment will be essential for their post-exam journey."
Lawrence Oyamatum, the Chairman of the Board of Governors, praised the teaching staff for their tireless dedication and sacrifices, predicting excellent outcomes. "Our teachers have gone above and beyond, investing their time and effort. Jeressar’s legacy of quality education remains intact, and I am confident this year’s results will showcase that."
Several students shared their confidence and excitement as they approached the exams:
Oriada Timothy expressed his enthusiasm: "I’ve been preparing diligently, and I’m confident I’ll make both my family and school proud."
Enyoru Ivan, aiming to excel in the BCM (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics) combination, shared, "We’re ready to face these exams. Our preparation has been thorough, and I’m aiming for excellence."
Epaku Festo, a PEM (Physics, Economics, Mathematics) student, added, "The teachers have prepared us well. I’m set to achieve great results."
Ritah Ikol, specializing in HEL (History, Economics, Literature), expressed, "I feel ready and can’t wait to showcase what I’ve learned. Monday is the start of our success."
Alio Mercy, an Arts student studying HEL/ICT, expressed gratitude for the support and called on the community for continued prayers: "Our teachers have done everything to prepare us. Now, we need support and prayers from our parents and the community to reach our full potential."
With a proven track record of academic excellence and a supportive environment, Jeressar High School has continuously produced high-achieving students. As the Senior Six students embark on their UACE exams, Jeressar stands poised to add another chapter to its story of success, setting a high bar for academic achievement in Soroti.
