His Royal Highness Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng, the Iteso Paramount Chief, has urged the Judiciary to decentralize its services to improve access to justice across the Teso sub-region. He made the appeal during an open court session presided over by the Chief Justice of Uganda, Flavian Zeija, where judicial leaders interacted directly with members of the public.

Addressing the gathering, Emolot emphasized that many residents face significant challenges accessing court services due to long distances, particularly to Soroti City where most judicial operations are concentrated. He noted that decentralizing services to lower courts would reduce transport costs and delays, enabling citizens to seek justice more efficiently and affordably.

The Paramount Chief specifically called for the full deployment  of Grade One Magistrate Courts in Kapelebyong and Butebo districts to bring services closer to the people. He also appealed for the operationalization of the High Court in Pallisa to extend High Court services to the greater Pallisa area and ease case backlogs in the region.

Soroti District Woman Member of Parliament Anna Adeke Ebaju applauded the Soroti Judiciary for delivering justice fairly and efficiently. She pledged to work closely with the Judiciary, leveraging her legal background to strengthen collaboration and ensure improved access to quality judicial services for communities in Teso.
