Soroti Municipal Secondary School is celebrating a remarkable academic achievement after registering an impressive performance in the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations, with all eighty candidates who sat the exams qualifying for university admission.

The results, released by the Uganda National Examinations Board, indicate that the school maintained a strong academic record, with every candidate obtaining at least two principal passes, the minimum requirement for university entry in Uganda.

Speaking shortly after the release of the results, the school’s head teacher, Mboizi Rogers, expressed excitement over the performance and commended both the teachers and students for their dedication and hard work throughout the academic year. He revealed that the school produced three candidates who scored the maximum 18 points, namely Edau Ben, Engoyo Paul, and Owuga Philip.

Rogers attributed the outstanding results to early academic preparation and a consistent teaching approach adopted by the school. According to him, intensive teaching and facilitation began as early as the second term and continued through the third term to ensure that students were fully prepared for the national examinations.

He also announced that the school has introduced a merit-based sponsorship scheme at A-Level aimed at supporting academically promising students. The head teacher noted that twenty bursary slots are still available for high-performing students interested in joining the institution.

One of the top performers, Owuga Philip, who studied Physics, Entrepreneurship and Mathematics, credited the school’s improved learning environment for their success. He pointed to the well-equipped library, laboratory facilities, and the commitment of teachers as key factors that helped them perform well. Philip said he hopes to pursue engineering at university.

School administrators further observed that female students performed better than their male counterparts in the examinations, a trend they described as encouraging for the continued advancement of girls’ education at the institution.

The strong performance has further strengthened Soroti Municipal Secondary School’s reputation as one of the leading academic institutions in the region.
